RAGFP COMMEMORATES WORLD PEACE DAY - WITH PETER NEUFELDT;
AND
STEPPING IN MY NEW ROLE: HEALTHCARE ETHICS FELLOW –
WITH PRESIDENT JAYNA AMADASUN!
The Rotary Club of Regina Eastview, September 22, 2026 gathering had all the aspects of a great Rotary meeting. The attendee's were in spacious meeting place, the food looked fantastic and the presentations were of a high quality and clearly of interest to attendees. President Jayne extended a warm welcome to members and our Rotary colleagues from the Regina Club and reminded us of our good fortune by sharing our Club's Land Acknowledgement statement. In the absence of song leader, Allen Hillsden, who baled on this opportunity because he had a ride to see family in another city, Karen Hoeft filled the void and got us through our National Anthem without a hitch. After Peter Peters gave thanks for the blessings of fellowship, food and service opportunities, our gathering swarmed to the buffet line.
The first thing after lunch President Jayne invited Tania Woroby to share the most recent letter our Club received from our Bangladesh Amarok Society Mother / Teacher Sathi. We learned that Sathi has taken the education and training she received in her Mother/Teacher School to head and heart and has applied it to teaching her class of 5 students. The children have caught on to the concept of learning when you apply tasks activities - e.g. “find something that starts with the same letter like ‘b’ in book" - children find items in a fun way, and are excited about what they learned."
As noted in the circulated announcement our meeting consisted of 2 presentations beginning with PDG Peter Neufeldt sharing his connection with the Rotary Action Group for Peace and Regina Eastview's 20 year connection with what is now RI District 5550's Ripple Effect Program. The Rotary Club of Regina Eastview welcomed Peter Neufeldt into Rotary in November 1978, and in the ensuing 48 years he has held a host of positions in the Club, District 5550 and beyond. A commitment to peace is reflected in all of Peter’s areas of focus, the community where he lives, the community in which he worships and where he shares his professional prowess. The connection with Rotary and its commitment to world understanding and peace and the motto of service above self are a natural fit. Peter’s commitment to Peace led him to become a member of the Rotary Action Group For Peace (RAGFP), whose purpose is rooted in Rotary International’s mission of advancing goodwill, understanding and peace. September 21, 2026 was World Peace Day and Peter shared what this means from an RAGFP perspective in regard our Club's involvement in the Ripple Effect Program. Here are some of the things Peter stressed:
September 21 was International Peace Day and Peter stressed that peace is possible, requiring dedication and commitment and hard work;
Peace building works at the individual, community and global levels;
Teaching is a key component of peace building, and Peter raised as an example Eastview's success in participating in the Ripple Effect Program and the building of schools;
Joy and excitement comes from learning new things in new surroundings;
Building peace through PolioPlus - where vaccination efforts were challenged in places like Pakistan and Afghanistan, but through consistent cross cultural conversation inroads were made
Eastview is in the process of building peace through our work with the Amarok Society;
Peace building through the work of ShelterBox;
Rotary Teaches Peace through trained Peace Fellows over the past 1 ½ decades 1900 Peace Fellows have been trained in the task of Peace building;
Positive Peace is about Educating, Engaging and Empowering;
Positive peace is about taking action - doing something that will produce peace.
Peter closed his presentation by encouraging others to become a member of RAGFP.
Thank you, Peter, for being our Peace Connection

STEPPING IN MY NEW ROLE:
WITH PRESIDENT JAYNA!
Jayna Amadasun is a Consultant, Ethical Strategist, Solution focused Coach and Keynote Speaker whose work falls at the intersection of medicine, law and justice. Founder of Ember Impact Global, Jayna equips leaders and organizations to embed fairness, accountability, strategy, and culture.
In regard to education, Jayna has spent over two decades in healthcare, is a trained medical doctor and holds a Master of Laws (LLM) in Medical Law and Ethics. She transitioned from clinical practise to healthcare ethics. Her work moves beyond compliance to principled transformation using powerful “justice filter” to align goals with human dignity and measurable impact.
President Jayna, off to Hamilton for a year, and this is what today's scribe learned from our beloved Scholar;
Bioethics is the study of moral, social, and legal questions that arise in medicine, the life sciences, and biotechnology;
Healthcare ethics goal is to ensure the patient receives the best counsel going forward and in this process moral questions arise;
When facing healthcare crisis there are number of challenges that must be addressed;
for example, how will the outcome be balanced and fair to everyone concerned;
As a Healthcare Fellow Jayna will now have the opportunity to deal with these challenges;
She will bring peace to the partners facing these challenges;
Jayna indicated she is a lover of Truth and Justice, and always what is the best outcome for my patient, while recognizing that everyone involved is ‘getting to a balance’.
Thank you, President Jayna, we are ever so proud to know you and we wish you much goodness and joy. Four years in the Rotary Club of Regina Eastview, and we send you off as a Fellow - who knew.
Doreen Pankewich, in her gentle and gracious manner, expressed our collective best wishes to President Jayna, for sharing her leadership skills for the last 15 months plus, in the strengthening of Regina Eastview. Doreen presented President Jayna with a beautiful bouquet..
The meeting concluded in the establish tradition of reciting the words in Rotary's 4 - Way Test.
May the final week of September treat you all exceptional well.
